On a peaceful site laden with 100-year-old live oak trees and wrapped on two sides with water, the devastation of Hurricane Katrina made way for a new opportunity on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. A single family home for generations, the development team’s objective was to structure a deal for the owners for them to capitalize on allowable density on the site while maintaining the small-scale neighborhood feeling. The concept focuses on water views and a lush central arboretum with circulation held to the perimeter of the property to create a garden-like neighborhood.
